International Tournaments, World Championships

Living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Yanick Racicot first discovered parasport in 2010 through wheelchair basketball. After also trying swimming, athletics, and cross-country skiing, he was introduced to wheelchair rugby in 2011 and immediately fell in love with the sport. The skills he developed in wheelchair basketball allowed him to progress quickly on the rugby court and earn a place on the Quebec provincial team.

A member of Canada’s national program since 2013, he has steadily built his international experience while also contributing to the growth of wheelchair rugby in Montreal. Yanick played an important role in mentoring several future members of the Canadian national team, including Anthony Létourneau, Maxime Drolet-Gauthier, and Mélanie Labelle, during their early training years.

His career reached a new milestone in 2025 when he won a bronze medal with Team Canada at the WWR Americas Championship and earned the individual honour of Best 1.5 Classification Player of the tournament. In 2026, after more than a decade with the Canadian program, he competed in his first World Wheelchair Rugby Championships in São Paulo.
